A Tribute to our friend Harold Kershner

“Harold was genuinely someone who would put others before himself, right up until when he became ill, he was still going out and getting involved with the work he loved to do. He will be gravely missed by all the members of the forum and the wider community in Salford.”

(Dan Stears, Chair )

Long term member of the Salford Mental Health Forum Harold Kershner has been described as “always a giver; never a taker” after his death at the age of 83 last year. Harold was an accountant by trade, but was also very active in his community, standing in the local elections several times as a Liberal Democrat in Kersal. While he was never elected to the city council, that didn’t stop him helping his community.

He was also active in the Jewish community, as he once had roles as President of Manchester Great and New Synagogue, and was a trustee of the Jewish Cultural Centre. He volunteered in many roles across Salford and used his experiences to help both charities, community organisations and groups. One of his roles was as long term treasurer to Salford Mental Health Forum.

Thank you Harold. Without your dedication Salford Mental Health Forum would not be where it is today.
